M: Hi, Sally. Welcome back. How was the West Coast
W: Terrific. I had a wonderful time. It was really nice to get away from the city for a while.
M: What do you think of L. A.
W: It was all right. I liked it better than I thought I would. It’s very clean and spacious, and it’s got lots of trees. The problem is transportation. The bus service is terrible, and of course, they don’t have a subway, so it’s a little difficult to get around. We had to rent a car.
M: And what did you see
W: Oh, the usual things. We took a drive around Hollywood and looked at the stars’ homes, and then we went to Universal Studio and Disneyland.
M: How did you like Disneyland
W: It was great. We really enjoyed it. We took all the rides, some of them twice, and had a lot of fun. I felt just like a kid again.
M: Was the weather good
W: Oh, yeah. It was nice and warm in L. A..<

W: No, thank you. What is your special today

W: Nice to see you again. John. I hope you’re feeling better.
M: I’m fine now. Having to work so hard, I’m afraid I’ll be back in bed again soon.
Did you examine your paper money closely See if you can locate a $5, $10, or $20 bill printed before 1964 and marked "Federal Reserve Note" over the portrait. In the upperleft portion above the seal, a statement written in fine print says that the note is legal tender (法定货币) and that "it is redeemable (可兑现的) in lawful money at the United States Treasury (美国财政部), or at any Federal Reserve Bank (联邦储备银行)." Does this mean that the bin is not lawful At the bottom center the same bill says, "Will pay to the bearer on demand X dollars." Does this mean that your X-dollar bill is not X dollars
Much confusion exists about the real nature of money. Many people think that money has no value unless it is backed by gold or silver. They think that the Federal Reserve note is only a symbol for money, and that real money is the metal backing the note. Some people look on money as wealth and believe that it must have intrinsic (内在的) value.

Mark: I see.
Paul: Believe me, ()
Mark: That’s OK.
Paul: Look, I’ll phone her and cancel our date tomorrow.
Mark: No, just leave it.
