M: Hi, Sally. Welcome back. How was the West Coast
W: Terrific. I had a wonderful time. It was really nice to get away from the city for a while.
M: What do you think of L. A.
W: It was all right. I liked it better than I thought I would. It’s very clean and spacious, and it’s got lots of trees. The problem is transportation. The bus service is terrible, and of course, they don’t have a subway, so it’s a little difficult to get around. We had to rent a car.
M: And what did you see
W: Oh, the usual things. We took a drive around Hollywood and looked at the stars’ homes, and then we went to Universal Studio and Disneyland.
M: How did you like Disneyland
W: It was great. We really enjoyed it. We took all the rides, some of them twice, and had a lot of fun. I felt just like a kid again.
M: Was the weather good
W: Oh, yeah. It was nice and warm in L. A..<

W: I was talking with Bob yesterday and I learnt your right leg had been injured. How did it happen
M: Their right back Tom knocked me down when I rushed to their goal with the ball.
W: Wow! He must have hit you hard.
M: Of course. He hit me from the back and sent me rolling over here and there. At the time I had a lot of pain. Anyway, they brought me to the hospital.
W: Nothing serious, I hope.
M: The doctor said there weren’t any internal injuries, but I’d better stay here a couple of days.
W: Well, Mike. Take it easy.
M: Thank you for your coming. And thanks for the flowers.

W: Hello, Tom. How are you
M: I’m fine. Where are you going
W: Oh, I’m on my way home from work.
M: I didn’t know you had a job.
W: Yeah, I work part-time at a supermarket.
M: What do you do there
W: I work in the produce section, Trimming and wrapping fresh fruit and vegetables. I also stock shelves. Sometimes when it really gets busy, I work at the check-out counter. Have you got a job, Tom
M: Yeah, I do yard work for people. You know, cutting grass, raking leaves, pulling weeds, things like that.
W: I’d like doing that. It must be nice to work outdoors.
M: Sometimes it is. Except when it rains or snows or gets too hot or too cold or…
W: Ha-ha, I think every job has its shortcomings. There are times when I get pretty tired of carrying things around at my job. But a job’s a job. Gotta earn money for school.
