It is a great honor for me to introduce today’s guest lecturer, Dr C. Henry Taylor, a colleague who is so well-known to all of us for his many accomplishments and contributions to the field of architecture and planning that it hardly seems necessary to recount them here. Nevertheless, as customary, I will summarize his long experience as a prelude to his address. Dr Taylor received his BA degree in urban history at Yale University in 1955. Five years later, he was awarded a master degree in architecture and a PhD in urban design from Cornell University. Upon graduating, he accepted a teaching position in the Department of Architecture and Fine Arts at Illinois University where he was promoted to chairman of the department in 1969.
