Dear Sir,
On looking over today’s Economic Daily my
attention was attracted by your advertisement for a senior clerk. Now as I am
desirous of obtaining such a position, I should like to apply for it.
I graduated from Beijing University in July 1992. I am twenty-seven years
of age and single.
Since 1992 I have been responsible for all
office details in the administration of sales. In the course of my work, I have
become familiar with the various sales territories, and have also, in my spare
time, experience, of handling business problems other than my proper
sphere.
I am desirous of leaving the office in order to gain
more experience in an exporter’s company. My present employer knows of my
ambition and is helping me to find a new place.
Trusting you
will give my application kind consideration and hoping to hear favorably from
you at your convenience.

[单项选择]Dear Sir,
Just over six months ago, I saw an advertisement in a morning newspaper for a set of the complete works (全集) of William Shakespeare: Your company offered this set at a low price: 15 pounds and 50 pence. I had wanted a set of Shakespeare’s plays and poems for some time, so I sent for them.
Two weeks later, the books arrived, together with a set of the works of Charles Dickens which I had not wanted. So I returned the Dickens’ books to you. Two more weeks passed. Then there arrived a second set of the works of Shakespeare, the same set of Dickens’ books and a set of the plays of Moliere in French. I do not read French, and they were not useful at all, so I wrote to you. You did not answer that letter. Instead you sent me a bill for 42 pounds and a set of the plays of Schiller in German. I have no room for any more books, and I have no time to read them all.
Please send no more books, no more bills and no more angry letters for payment. Just send one large t

Dear Sir or Mad .am,
Today we have received your bill for 150 engraved crystal vases which you sent us the other day.
We had ordered these vases on condition that they should reach us by the end of June. But they arrived here 15 days late.
The customers refused to accept the goods because they arrived too late. Since the vases bear their names, we cannot sell them to other customers. So we asked the customers again and again to take the vases, and finally they agreed to accept them, but at a price cut of 30 percent.
You may understand how we have lost the customers’ confidence. In this situation, we have to ask you to compensate for the loss we have suffered. We are looking forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely,
George Pastry
