Some American teachers have noticed a big difference in study habit between Chinese and American students.
American teachers spend lots of class time in encouraging students to discuss freely in class. Students pay much attention to improving their abilities in working out problems by themselves. Teachers often give their students a long reading list and the next class is always based on it. So students have to go to the library to do a lot of reading before class. Otherwise, they will feel embarrassed if they cannot answer their teacher’s questions in class.
However, Chinese students pay much attention to taking notes in class and seldom do library study. They can get good marks in their exams if they are able to memorize their class notes.
In fact, this is really something serious that we should think about. If our students neglect self-study, it would be a great sorrow.

Here are little cars that may some day take the place of today’s cars. If everyone drives such a car in the future, there will be less pollution in the air. There will also be more parking spaces in cities, and the streets will be less crowded. Three such cars fit in the space now needed for one car of the usual size. The little cars will cost much less to own and to drive. Driving will be safer, too, as these little cars can go only 55 miles per hour. The cars of the future will be fine for getting around a city, but they will not be useful for long trips.
