[填空题]
Is Running Bad for Your Knees Maybe Not

A. Perhaps because it seems intuitively true, the notion persists that running, especially when done long-term and over long distances, is bad for the joints. Indeed, it would be hard to think otherwise when with each foot strike, a runner’s knee withstands a force equal to eight times his or her body weight—for a 150-1b. person, that’s about 1200 1b. of impact, step after step.
B. The common wisdom is that regular running or vigorous sport-playing during a person’s youth subjects the joints to so much wear and tear that it increases his or her risk of developing osteoarthritis (骨关节炎) later in life. [单项选择]Maybe unemployment isn’t so bad after all. A new study says that, income notwithstanding, having a demanding, unstable and thankless job may make you even unhappier than not having a job at all.
Given that a paid position gives workers purpose and a structured role, researchers had long thought that having any job would make a person happier than being unemployed. That turns out to be true if you move into a high-quality job—but taking a bad job is detrimental to mental health.
Australian National University researchers looked at how various psychosocial work attributes affect well-being. They found that poor-quality jobs—those with high demands, low control over decision making, high job insecurity and an effort-reward imbalance—had more adverse effects on mental health than joblessness.
The researchers analyzed seven years of data from more than 7,000 respondents of an Australian labor survey for their Occupational and Environmental Medicine study in which they wrote:
A. The unemployed were no better than those in jobs of the poorest psychosocial quality.
B. The unemployed had significantly poorer mental health than the employed.

[单项选择]Letting it out may be bad for your emotional health. Many people assume that sharing feelings openly and often is a positive ideal that promotes mental health. But some social critics and psychologists now conclude that repressing one’s feelings may do more good than venting emotions.
"A small number of researchers are taking an empirical look at the general assumption that speaking out and declaring one’s feelings is better than holding them in," writes Christina Sommers, a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute.
At Suffilk University, psychologist Jane Bybee classified high-school students on the basis of their self-awareness: "sensitizers" were extremely aware of their internal states, "repressors" focused little on themselves, and "intermediates" occupied the middle range. Bybee then collected student evaluations of themselves and each other, along with teacher evaluations of the students. On the whole, the repressors were more socially and academically succ
