A massive flood caused by heavy monsoon rains has devastated large parts of Bangladesh. Representatives of relief agencies such as the Red Cross are estimating that as many as 5 million people have been affected by the flooding. Temporary shelters constructed by UN authorities just outside the capital of Dhaka have filled with thousands of refugees whose homes have been destroyed.
