[单项选择]Passage 3 From the bank’s point of view, leverage ratios vary from conservative (highest calculated leverage) to liberal (lowest calculated leverage) The most conservative leverage rations show the most debt and least net worth, Therefore, the total liabilities/tangible net worth ratio will produce the highest leverage and thus be the most conservative because all liabilities are included. On the net worth side, equity has been reduced by the intangible assets on the balance sheet, Intangible assets do not necessarily yield cash, so it is more conservative to subtract these assets from net worth, Conversely, the senior liabilities/capital funds ratio would show less leverage because only senior liabilities are shown as debt, and net worth bas been augmented by the amounts of subordinated debt outstanding.Financial leverage refers to how much money a firm uses for assets.

The World Bank’s Real Problem

The World Bank is undeniably in crisis. But not because its president, Paul Wolfowitz, got his girlfriend a raise.
It is the Wolfowitz saga that has been grabbing all the headlines, of course. The Iraq- war architect was plucked from the Defense Department and deposited by President George W. But the size of the pay hike (from $133,000 to $180,000, tax free) and other details about Riza’s transfer raised hackles among bank staff and sparked an investigation. The bank’s board will decide any day now whether Wolfowitz stays or goes.
This dragged-out mess, though, is a distr

My name is Jane Carson and I’m the manager of a savings bank in Portland, Oregon. My bank is open every day from 8: 30 in the morning until 4: O0 in the afternoon. On Fridays the bank remains open until 6:30 in the evening.
Friday is our busiest day. Many people get their paychecks on Fridays and they come into deposit them. I find that on Fridays I have to keep six windows open all day long. We have many signs to remind people that they need their passbooks for all transactions and that they must fill out their deposit of withdrawal slips completely. If our depositors cooperate with us we can accommodate them with as few delays as possible.
Of course, people do forget. The tellers inform me that many customers still forget to endorse their checks or try to open or close joint acc
