[简答题]A theory is a good theory if it satisfies two requirements: It must accurately describe a large class of observations on the basis of a model that contains only a few arbitrary elements, and it must make definite predictions about the results of future conservation. Newton’ s theory of gravity was based on an even simpler model, in which bodies attracted each other with a force that proportional to a quantity called their mass and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.

Priming

Priming, one kind of implicit memory effects, refers to an increased sensitivity to certain stimuli due to prior experience. It can occur after perceptual, semantic, or conceptual stimulus repetition and it can affect the subject’s judgment. It happens, for example, if a person reads a list of words including the word "table", and is later asked to complete a word starting with "tab", the probability that he answer "table" is greater than if not so primed.
The effects of priming can be very salient and long lasting, even more so than simple recognition memory. Unconscious priming effects can affect word choice on a word-stem completion test long after the words have been consciously forgotten.
Question: The professor uses an example to illustrate the definition of "priming". Explain how this example is related to the reading passage.
[单项选择]Creativity is neither something learned by applying a formula nor is it the unfettered, chaotic product of a genius. Instead, creativity should be viewed as an individualized process that helps the creator find order within chaos (or vice versa). Creativity seems to emerge from multiple experiences, coupled with a well-supported development of personal resources, including a sense of freedom to venture beyond the known. To create is to "bring into or cause to come into existence; make; originate". I find most often that my creative product is my scholarship. Whether I compile a script, enact a performance art installation, or construct a fragmented review of a performance, I take a leap and then look around to see what I’ve gotten myself into. Although my scholarship takes many forms (screenplays; non- linear narratives; and combinations of video, sound, and movement pieces), initially my research resembles a puzzle, a collage of images and texts that do not seem to go together
A. the creative process is neither chaotic nor orderly
B. the creative process is both chaotic and orderly
C. the creative process is either chaotic or orderly
D. the creative process is an individualized one
[单项选择]Albert Einstein once attributed the creativity of a famous scientist to the fact that he "never went to school, and therefore preserved the rare gift of thinking freely". There is undoubtedly truth in Einstein’s observation. Many artists and geniuses seem to view their schooling as a disadvantage. But such a truth is not a criticism of schools. It is the function of schools to civilize, not to train explorers. The explorer is always a lonely individual whether his or her pioneering be in art, music, science, or technology. The creative explorer of unmapped lands shares with the genius what William James described as the "faculty of perceiving in an unhabitual way". Insofar as schools teach perceptual patterns they tend to destroy creativity and genius. But if schools could somewhat exist solely to cultivate genius, then society would break down. For the social order demands unity and widespread agreement, both traits are destructive to creativity. There will always be conflict between
A. helped develop the creativity of a scientist
B. preserved a rare gift for a scientist
C. prevented a scientist from thinking freely
D. contributed a lot to science and technology
[单项选择]Which of the following statements about creativity is INCORRECT
A. Creativity stems from human beings’ novel thinking.
B. The duration of the creative process varies from person to person.
C. Creative people focus on novel thinking rather than on solutions.
D. The outcome of human creativity comes in varied forms.
[单项选择]Creativity on Demand As an event planner, who designs and orchestrates every type of event from corporate affairs to weddings, it’’s my responsibility to put together and manage the individual creative teams that are contributing to the occasions. (0) . One of the greatest challenges of my job, yet one of its most rewarding aspects, is working with creative people on a day-to-day basis. I deal with a lot of high-profile, artistic individuals—people who are extremely knowledgeable and well known in their own right. They are passionate and talented, caring and wonderful individuals who often have their own vision of how they want particular elements of events designed and executed. Therein lies the challenge. (9). When you are working with creative minds, it’’s crucial to keep them on track so they don’’t go off on tangents and disrupt the project’’s rhythm or production schedule. This means taking a very active management role. (10). If needed, I will take the person asid
