So much emphasis is placed nowadays on oral skills in all area of work, study and lecture, that the training course has proved very popular and last year I run a week’s presentation skills course at the annual International Summer School.
After a shorter introductory meeting on the Saturday night when Bridget Stevens, Summer School Director greeted all the new students attending a wide variety of courses. And the courses began in earnest with a two-hour session the following morning. Then followed full days, 9:30 a. m.～3:30 p. m. , with the examination taking place on the fifth day (Friday).
In order to give the students a change from my voice in this very concentrated week, Irene Randine, a very experienced lecturer, was invited to give two sessions, first on "Voice" and later on "Reading Aloud", both of which were a success.
The group was from a variety of countries. We have required that only fluent English speakers wou
