卢梭的政治思想对中国的影响．最早可追溯到维新派。康有为、梁启超原来主张取法英国和日本，实行君主立宪制。戊戌变法失败后，梁启超在1901年撰文介绍卢梭的“民约学派”，1902年又写下《近世欧洲四大家政治学说》，其中以最多的篇幅介绍了卢梭。接着，资产阶级革命派以卢梭的民主学说为武器，猛烈批判反动的清王朝。当时名噪一时、销量达百余万册的邹容的《革命军》，就明确借用了卢梭的思想。
