Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941. The United States was mad at the Japanese so they made many Japanese-Americans leave their homes. They were put in camps with barbed wire around the outside of the camps.
Many Japanese-American young men were called into the army. Some of them joined the U.S. Military Intelligence Service or MIS. The MIS was a secret group that fought the Japanese soldiers. This secret group translated important maps and papers. They questioned Japanese prisoners, Another task they did was to translate diaries written in Japanese.
Sometimes Japanese soldiers hid in caves to hide from, the Americans. The MIS would try to get the scared soldiers to leave the caves. This was known as "cave flushing." Some of the soldiers would give up and leave the caves.
Other Japanese would jump to their deaths.
The MIS never got awards for their efforts until the year 2000. Then they were rewarded for their brave acts in World War II. It

Judging from recent surveys, most experts in sleep behavior agree that there is virtually an epidemic of sleepiness in the nation. "I can’t think of a single study that hasn’t found Americans getting less sleep than they ought to." says Dr. David.

S: In recent years, more and more foreign students have been coming to the UK to study. But when they first arrive many students are unsure of the formalities they have to follow and even where to go for help. So we have Allan McLean from the British Council here today to offer some advice. Allan, first of all, where do overseas students get help when they have problems at college
A: Well, the Welfare Office of the Student Union can provide students with information and advice on all aspects of college life and living in the UK. The college will also have a counselor for overseas students who will specifically look after the interest of foreign students. They can also put you in touch with overseas students’ societies and organizations, which are often run by overseas students. So, as you can see, there’s quite an extensive support service for the students, and new arrivals shouldn’t feel they have to tackle problems alone.
While still catching up to men in some spheres of modern life, women appear to be way ahead in at least one undesirable category. "Women are particularly susceptible to developing depression and anxiety disorders in response to stress compared to men," according to Dr. Yehuda, chief psychiatrist at New York’s Veteran’s Administration Hospital.
Studies of both animals and humans have shown that sex hormones somehow affect the stress response, causing females under stress to produce more of the trigger chemicals than do males under the same conditions. In several of the studies, when stressed-out female rats had their ovaries (the female reproductive organs) removed, their chemical responses became equal to those of the males.
Adding to a woman’s increased dose of stress chemicals, are her increased "opportunities" for stress. "It’s not necessarily that women don’t cope as well. It’s just that they have so
