Television, which made its first serious appearance in 1939, did not become common until the early 1950s. Since then. millions of children have grown up in front of the set, and many people now worry about the effect that TV has on the young, and on society in general. Many ordinary parents wish it had never been invented.
Like almost anything else, television has its good and its bad sides. One should surely thank its inventors for the joy and the interest that they have brought into the lives of the old, the sick. and the lonely --all those who, without it, would have no pleasure and no window in the world.
In truth, television has opened windows in everybody’s life. No newspaper has ever reached so many people and shown so clearly what is happening right now in their own country and everywhere else. In medicine, blood type is the classification of red blood cells by the presence of specific substances on their surface. In the early part of the 20th century, physicians discovered that blood transfusions often failed because the blood type of the recipient was not compatible with that of the donor. In 1901 the Austrian doctor Karl Landsteiner classified blood types and discovered that the hereditary blood factor is of great importance in blood transfusions because it creates reactions that can threaten the life of newborn infants.
The four blood types are known as A, B, AB, and O. Blood type A contains red blood cells that have a substance A on their surface. This type of blood also contains an antibody directed against substance B, which can be found on the red cells of persons with blood type B. Type B blood contains the opposite things. Blood type AB contains neither antibody, but red cells in this type of blood contain both A and B substances. In type O blo

The waltz originated in Germany from the energetic folkdances of the country people. Oral (spoken) language is a feature of every human society or culture. Experts studying ancient cultures have several theories about how human language began and developed. The earliest language systems probably combined vocal(声音的) sounds with hand or body signals to express messages. Some words may be similar to natural sounds. The economy of the United States, as well as that of most developed nations, operates according to the principles of the free market. This differs from the economies of socialist or Communist countries, where governments play a strong role in deciding what goods and services will be produced, how they will be distributed, and how much they will cost. Businesses in free-market economies benefit from certain fundamental rights or freedoms. All people in free-market societies have the right to own, use, buy, sell, or give away property, thus permitting them to own and operate their own businesses as private, profit-seeking enterprises. Business owners in free markets may choose to run their businesses however they like. This right gives businesses the authority to hire and fire employees, invest money, purchase machinery and equipment, and choose the markets where they want to operate. In doing so, however, they may not violate or offend against the rights of other businesse
